Topical CBD Products: Why Are They So Popular?

If you think Cannabidiol or CBD is cannabis, you are both right and wrong. CBD is derived from cannabis plant, but it is only one compound found in cannabis or marijuana. That’s actually what makes it so special. CBD is the compound that brings many of the benefits without the side effects. This is also why CBD-based products contain CBD, but not Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC); the latter is what causes the sensation of getting “high” when cannabis is consumed.

CBD can now be found in a wide range of products too. Aside from CBD supplements, there are topical products with CBD in them. In fact, CBD oil and other similar products have gotten so popular over the years. So, why are they so popular?

Topical CBD Products Have All the Benefits

We really cannot look into why CBD products are so popular without looking into the benefits of CBD. The compound has a lot of benefits that really make it stand out from the rest. For starters, CBD is an effective treatment for inflammation.

It is also recognized as an effective pain reliever. Rather than using over-the-counter medications or prescription drugs to treat pain, you can choose to use topical CBD products and suffer from fewer to no side effects.

Since CBD is a great for treating inflammation, there is an added benefit you can also enjoy: it works great as a treatment for rashes and burns. Having a CBD oil or cream ready for when these issues occur is certainly recommended.

The anti-inflammatory nature of CBD also means it is an effective treatment for acne and other skin problems caused by severe inflammation. In the case of treating acne, a thin application of CBD cream or oil is all it takes to ease the symptoms.

Next, there is the fact that CBD has a calming property to it. It is an effective treatment for anxiety and depression. The latest studies revealed that topical CBD use is just as effective in treating anxiety disorders; when inhaled, the aroma of CBD oil and extract helps the brain release more serotonin.

It is not surprising to find consumption of CBD in other forms (i.e. CBD supplements) bringing a long list of benefits to be gained as well. CBD is now used as an alternative treatment for epilepsy, plus it is known to be effective to prevent diabetes and cancer.

Topical CBD Products Are Easy to Use

Using topical CBD products is easier than you think, mainly because there are now more products to choose from. CBD oil, for example, can be used as an ointment directly, allowing it to be used for treating anything from rashes to back pain.

At the same time, we now have CBD products in other forms. CBD spray is perfect for helping you relax and easing the symptoms of anxiety attacks. The CBD spray is also diluted enough to be absorbed by the skin, which is why application to pulse points around the body also produces the same effects.

There are CBD patches – similar to nicotine patches, but with CBD in them – acts as a way to use CBD over a longer period of time. Rather than applying CBD spray or oil frequently throughout the day, you only need to apply the patch once to enjoy its benefits throughout the day.

CBD cream is perhaps the most popular form of them all right now. Cream is also easier to apply, and manufacturers of CBD cream are starting to add other ingredients to further amplify the effects their products deliver. There are CBD-based skin care and creams for treating inflammation and rashes.

More Products to Come

The popularity of topical CBD products is partly thanks to the constant R&D and innovations attracting the attention of mainstream media. As the demand for CBD products grows – and its effectiveness as treatments gets more recognition – we are seeing a new line of products based on CBD.

My personal favourite is the CBD lip balm. It helps treat dry lips while still delivering CBD’s wide range of benefits in an effective way. At the same time, CBD rubs and salves are easier to find in compact packaging, allowing you to have one with you at all times.

Expect to see more product variations in the near future, including CBD-based topical products that leverage other ingredients to bring more benefits. The CBD patches mentioned earlier, for example, are now tailored to function in more specific ways, including as a quit-smoking aid.

There is certainly a big push towards a more diverse CBD product line-up. It is only a matter of time before more specific products – designed for specific use cases – become available on the market. When that point is reached, CBD will be even more popular – and more widely used in the country – than it already is today.
